"See the Dream, Live the Adventure"

OUR KIVA

1349 St Mary's Ave

Parkersburg, WV  26101

Several hundred boys…several hundred shows…several thousands of miles of travel. Who would have thought a group of boys and adults could become so involved in a dream?

The dream started out as the BSA Order of the Arrow Indian Dancers. To let younger boys participate, Boy Scout Troop 116 was converted to one of America’s most unique Scout groups. Many of the original group still stops by to see how things are going and many still help as adults and are involved as adults in powwows. Many are expert in Native American arts and crafts. Boy Scout Venture Crew was conceived to allow boys from other Scout Troops, to join the group.

The KID’s began as a Scouting project for boys and after several hundred shows and several hundred boys’ that’s still what they’re all about. The adventures of Scouting, traveling and performing are highlights in the growing-up years of hundreds of boy’s who are willing to submit themselves to the challenges of dance practice, craftwork and Scout skills.

The story isn’t over. There are still hundreds of boys and many great adventures ahead. We are full of dreams and plans for the future. One of these dreams is to get our building (Kiva) fixed up and open to the public. The Kiva will house a Trading Post, Native American Museum, Meeting Rooms, Dance Practice Room, and Library. Our building is located at 1349 St. Marys Avenue in Parkersburg, WV.
